The Mountain of Imprisonment is a small but important region, unlocked by repairing the Illusory Pipa. The AllThings. How map counts only eight bells and a single chest, but three Phantom Edges come from here, including the Flying Guillotine, which opens locked areas across almost every other map. The region culminates at the Lady's Shrine and the famous Huangxing fight from the game's trailers.
Mountain of Imprisonment at a glance
The AllThings. How interactive map tracks 8 bells, 8 boss markers and 1 chests in Mountain of Imprisonment. Bells are checkpoints and upgrade stations, so unlocking every one makes backtracking much faster. Boss markers include optional fights as well as story bosses, and chests are where many accessories and upgrade materials are hidden. You can tick these off on our interactive map and the collectibles checklist.
Bosses and how to approach them
Iron Butcher, the Frenzied Brute throws jars. PCGamesN advises dodging when he throws three purple poison jars, and also when he throws a single purple jar, because a high-damage explosive follows. He drops the Iron Butcher Mask, which tempers Jagged Steel.
Bi Feng, Giant Saber Commander hides his attacks well. After several grey swipes comes a red attack, and his vertical leap is also red. His blade projectiles can be parried. He drops the Juggernaut.
Kui Yanyan, the Deranged is a short, unexpected fight. Stay close to interrupt him and parry his thrown daggers. He drops the Missing Lift Crank that powers the lift.
Huangxing, the Kunlun Renegade is the headline fight. Use the pillars to escape his accelerating flail spin, and in phase two dodge his floor roll late and parry the blue strike after two wind swipes and a sword slash. Read the Huangxing guide.
Jade-Face near the Lady's Shrine drops the Seamless Death weapon, according to KeenGamer.
