The Mandate Encampment is a compact military camp opened with the gate key from Gu Wanyue in the Village of Lu. PCGamesN notes it is smaller than other areas, but it is dense with fights: a secret boss behind a locked door, a surprise rooftop duel and one of the most unusual group battles in the game. It is also where you earn the Bashpole edge, a key traversal tool, provided you brought the Dread Axe.
Mandate Encampment at a glance
The AllThings. How interactive map tracks 17 bells, 8 boss markers and 6 chests in Mandate Encampment. Bells are checkpoints and upgrade stations, so unlocking every one makes backtracking much faster. Boss markers include optional fights as well as story bosses, and chests are where many accessories and upgrade materials are hidden. You can tick these off on our interactive map and the collectibles checklist.
Bosses and how to approach them
Corpse-Eating Xue is a secret enemy behind a locked door, surrounded by smaller enemies. Clear them quickly, block the fast blade swings and respect the slow, heavy enemies. PCGamesN says the reward is a side quest to recover Xue's three missing items rather than a weapon.
Wan Jun, the Coppermaul sits behind a chained gate that TechWiser says requires the Dread Axe. Dodge when he leaps to land on his backside, then attack while he lies on his back. Dodge away when sand covers the screen, because a red attack follows, and avoid his hammer push along the ground. He unlocks the Bashpole edge, which smashes wooden floors.
Red, the Mysterious Swordswoman appears unexpectedly on a rooftop. The space is tight. Watch her when she jumps to the spire, and after her thread grab expect a red attack. PCGamesN reports no reward, only a hint you will meet her again.
Chief Disciple of the Seven-Stars Formation brings six weaker enemies. Take those out first and parry in phase one. In phase two, the Sword of Despair, parry the blue attack after his dash, treat the third swing of a three-swing string as blue, and keep dodging the swarm of small red projectiles. He drops the Swordsman's Summon edge and the Training Grounds Key.
Yubi, No. 21 Swordfighter Puppet waits at the end of the map. Expect a red attack after her electrical spins and after she jumps onto the roof. She drops the Baishan Stormswords.
