Table of contents

Quick Hand Zhang is a thief and merchant you first meet in the Crimson Forest. Throughout Phantom Blade Zero he asks Soul to recover stolen relics, and each completed set earns you something valuable: two Phantom Edges, two accessories and a tempering material. His requests also matter for the best ending, so it pays to keep up with them as you explore. This guide explains how the questline works and what you get.

How the requests work

According to the PBZ Wiki and KeenGamer, Quick Hand Zhang's request covers 16 relics stored in green chests across five regions. Each region has its own set. When you have found every relic in a region, bring them to his hideout to claim that region's reward. You do not need to find them in a particular order, but some relics are gated behind tools or quest items you only get later.

Treasures per region and rewards

  • Crimson Forest – 3 relics. Reward: the Flying Dagger Phantom Edge. TechWiser lists it as a Ranged edge with 251 damage and 216 guard break; its tempering material is Quick Hand's Manual (Quickhand Mastery).
  • Village of Lu – 3 relics. Reward: Fine Thread, an accessory that AllThings. How says boosts damage and Sha-Chi depletion from summons by fifty percent.
  • Pangzhen – 4 relics. Reward: the Goldblaze Phantom Edge, a Ranged edge with 281 damage per TechWiser, tempered with Maintenance Oil for Dodge Counter.
  • Meigu Lake – 3 relics. Reward: Sha-Chi Blood Catalyst.
  • Mirage Estate – 3 relics. Reward: Thundermoon Lantern, an accessory that makes Thunderstrike trigger lightning strikes on nearby enemies.

Prerequisites to watch for

The PBZ Wiki and KeenGamer point out several gated relics:

  • In Pangzhen, the Tiger Paperweight requires a key from the Star Performer quest.
  • Also in Pangzhen, the Jade Brush Rest requires You Loong's Deluge, the Phantom Edge from You Loong. See our Flame guide for that fight.
  • In Meigu Lake, the last two relics require all four Acolyte Masks.
  • In the Mirage Estate, the sachet needs the Opera Ticket.

If a relic seems unreachable, it is almost always one of these gates rather than a hidden path you missed.

Accessories you can buy from him

Zhang also sells gear. AllThings. How lists Quick Hand Might (+10% two-handed weapon damage) and Quick Hand Pair (+10% dual-wielded weapon damage) at 30,000 Remnant Dust each. The matching Quick Hand Pendant (+10% one-handed damage) is found in the Thieves' Camp. If your build revolves around one weapon class, one of these is a simple, permanent damage boost. Saving Remnant Dust for them is covered in our Remnant Dust guide.

Why this matters for the ending

The games.gg true ending guide lists finishing Quick Hand Zhang's requests among the requirements, and says they must be done before passing The Last Chance bell on Mount Soulrend. Since the final set is in the Mirage Estate, plan to clear it before you head for the last region. Read the true ending guide for the complete checklist.

Tips

  • Open every green chest you see; most are relics.
  • Unlock bells near chests to make returning easier.
  • Revisit Pangzhen after getting You Loong's Deluge.
  • Revisit Meigu Lake after the fourth Acolyte Mask.
  • Use our collectibles checklist and interactive map to track what you have found.
