Remnant Dust is Phantom Blade Zero's main currency. You spend it on weapon and Phantom Edge levels, abilities and merchant items. Players coming from other action RPGs often look for a spot where enemies respawn and can be farmed endlessly. According to the PBZ Wiki and GameCEO, that is not how this game works, and knowing this early helps you avoid wasting time.

There is no infinite farm

The PBZ Wiki states plainly that there is no respawning Remnant Dust farm. Remnant Dust comes mainly from one-time sources, so the right approach is a thorough sweep of each area rather than repeated runs through the same enemies. The only real way to collect those pickups again is a New Cycle, which resets maps and quests; see the New Game Plus guide.

Where Remnant Dust comes from

The guides list these one-time sources:

  • White smoke pickups in the world. Look for wisps of white smoke; they mark collectable items.
  • Chests, including small ones off the main path.
  • Scrolls and books. GameCEO notes that interacting with and closing books also rewards you, so do not skip reading.
  • Boss and enemy kills along the way.

The practical lesson is to explore every branch of a region before moving on. Our region guides list the key paths for each area, from Weeping Creek Valley to Mount Soulrend.

Treasure Basin: +10% Remnant Dust

The Treasure Basin accessory increases Remnant Dust gain by ten percent, according to the PBZ Wiki. G2A notes it is a pre-order bonus that can also be obtained in-game, so you do not miss it by skipping the pre-order. AllThings. How lists it in its accessories database, which you can browse on our accessories page. Equip it while exploring new areas and swap it out for a combat accessory before a hard boss.

What to spend Remnant Dust on first

The sources agree that a focused spending plan is better than spreading levels thinly:

  1. One main weapon. Damage scales with level, and the first-cycle cap is level 30 per th.gl.
  2. One Phantom Edge that fits your style.
  3. Merchant accessories that suit your build. AllThings. How lists Quick Hand Zhang's Quick Hand Might and Quick Hand Pair at 30,000 Remnant Dust each; see Quick Hand Zhang's requests.
  4. Ability upgrades later. th.gl gives the example that Keen Edge costs 45,000 Remnant Dust plus The Banyan's Heart.

Don't lose it

As in other games of the genre, be careful about carrying a large amount into a dangerous area. Spend at a bell before exploring somewhere new or fighting an unfamiliar boss.

Efficient sweep checklist

  • Unlock every bell you find so you can return quickly.
  • Check dead ends and rooftops; side rooms often hold chests.
  • Read every book and scroll.
  • Come back to areas after getting traversal tools, such as the chain sickle from The Hunt or You Loong's Deluge.
  • Track your progress with our collectibles checklist and interactive map.

Second-cycle strategy

When you start a New Cycle, everything respawns. With your gear already strong, sweeping becomes much faster, and you can put the new dust into the cycle-scaled abilities and weapon +N levels described in the New Game Plus guide.

Exact Remnant Dust amounts per pickup were not published in the sources we checked, so we do not list figures.
